Over 50 years of experience
In 1960 the paper company Van Gelder decided to expand its product range with plastic. Van Gelder formed together with the US compagny Crown Zellerbach a joint venture Crown van Gelder PFI (Plastic Film Industry) for coating of paper with polyethylene and cast co-extrusion films. In 1980 the compagny became a 100% sister company of Van Gelder Papier and the name changed into Van Gelder PFI.
In 1982 the American multinational Borden Inc. acquired the company and it continued under the name Borden PFI (Plastic Film Industry). During that period the product range and the capacity grew.
In October 1996 the Packaging Division of Borden was acquired by the American packaging company AEP Industries Inc. . The synergy with the activities in the US was significant, which resulted in further growth of the Apeldoorn site (AEP Industries Nederland). During these years the production capacity for blown and cast extrusion was extended. New flexographic printing lines and laminating lines were installed. The laboratory facilities were largely extended.
In April 2008 AEP Industries (Nederland) B.V. were sold by AEP Industries Inc. and reunited with former sister company: Euro-M in Belgium. The companies operate independently, but make optimum use of extensive knowledge of the packaging market.
As of 1/4/2010 the company is called AFP (Apeldoorn Flexible Packaging B.V.). AFP have grown into a high-quality player that develop and market flexible packaging concepts in an innovative and service-oriented manner.
